Alpha: A Paranormal Shifter Romance by Kat Kinney
Brody Caldwell, deputy sheriff and alpha of the Blood Moon, Texas pack, receives a phone call on the eve of a crucial summit between humans, shapeshifters and vampires. An assassination attempt has been made against the leader of the werewolf council. One of his brothers claims responsibility. After a series of attacks and increasing hostility from the council, Brody seeks out a former source to get answers—London Blake, the fierce and beautiful former alpha of the Austin, Texas pack.
Two years ago, London was exiled by the werewolf council for a crime she didn’t commit. With her pack subject to human rights violations and the council refusing to listen, London turns to Brody to help her gather the intelligence needed to clear her name.
Someone wants them silenced. Together they will have to race against the clock to discover who is behind the attacks before they derail the paranormal peace summit.
Alpha is part of the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series. Sizzling hot romance. Guaranteed HEA.

Her escape to the countryside was meant to be a fresh start for Jenni. A chance to reinvent herself amongst strangers. How was she to know that her arrival would kick off a chain reaction of trouble.
The Newcomer causes a stir with her fancy cosmopolitan style and her big city ways, alien to this quiet Dorset backwater. Jenni awakens the sleepy village of Sixpenny Bissett where even a snail could win a race against the pace of change.
Jenni is keen to get to know her new neighbours and make friends. Unfortunately, she will find herself attracting all the wrong attention and adding fuel to the gossip fire. The one person who she thinks can heal her broken heart, seems immune to her charms. How can she persuade him otherwise?

Oil Stains Like Rorschachs by Matthew McGuirk
In this collection, McGuirk establishes his reputation as one of the most celebrated short-story writers in modern American letters.
“McGuirk’s writing wraps around your heart like a snapped coolant belt from Brook's Autos. Oil Stains Like Rorschachs assembles broken youths failed by their parents’ own expectations and failures. Bonded by oil spills and ink splatters these perfectly articulated misfits find the tools to repair not only the autos that bring them together but also themselves. Yet not everything or everyone can always be fixed.” — James Jenkins, author of Parochial Pigs.
“Matt McGuirk's latest hybrid collection is a masterclass in voice. Once you dive head first into Brooks' School of Grease Monkeys, you won't want to come up for air. The vivid cast of characters Matt creates draws you into their world, their lives, and their stories punctuated with poignant poetry. Blending realism and compassion, Matt's crew will make you think, long after you close the book.” — Beth Mulcahy, Pushcart Prize nominated poet and writer.

Book Review
After the Blue, Blue Rain by A D Price, reviewed by N S Ford
An impressively-researched detective novel set in Los Angeles, 1946. Kit Comfort is a private investigator whose next case is to track down a missing man. It becomes something more sinister, involving corruption, war trauma and even Nazis hiding in the city. I liked how authentic the language was for the era, no political correctness. The atmosphere feels very evocative of post-war urban America, soaked in martinis, choking on cigarette fumes, the social upheaval, veterans returning to civilian life. The only thing I wasn’t too sure about was the ending, which I had to re-read a couple of times. I think it could have been made clearer and expanded a little. In summary, a recommended read especially if you like historical / noir detective fiction.
