Salt in the Wound (Rainfallen Book 1) by Benjamin Aeveryn
Our world is lost to time. Only our myths remain.
Once rain was a symbol of hope and harvest. Now it brings only death.
Humanity survives in sheltered cities and canvas-covered towns. Travel between these patches of safety is rare and dangerous.
It’s what Galahad lives for.
But while seeking a lost cache of salt—a fortune he plans to use to build a shelter over his hometown—Galahad is betrayed by the friends he holds dearest.
They leave him for dead. Unfortunately for them, he lives.
Torn between seeking justice or revenge, Galahad knows one thing for certain: that treasure is his, and he’ll do anything to reclaim it.
The Stradivarius by Rae Knowles
When a surprise inheritance and whirlwind romance offer Mae a chance to escape her repressive aunt, she’s all too eager to elope and start life anew in her childhood home. But when she and her new husband arrive, the towering Victorian sits in disrepair, and Mae learns that her father’s decade-old, unsolved murder is still a source of rumor and speculation in town.
Leading the charge to unravel the mystery surrounding her father’s death is Ollie, a vibrant genderqueer and an outsider in their hometown. Sure that solving the cold case will land them a coveted job in the police department, Ollie gains access to the Victorian by agreeing to do maintenance work on the property.
Inside, Mae is taunted by a feminine specter, soft voices from empty rooms, and distinct melodies of Lady Paola: the priceless, Stradivarius violin stolen the night of her father’s murder.
Forte, mezzo-forte, the measured, andante cadence.
Her hiss, her pull, her scream.
Mae fears the house is haunted by her father’s spirit, her husband believes she’s going the way of her mother–slipping into madness, but Ollie suspects something more sinister is at play. If Ollie and Mae can’t work together to uncover the Victorian’s secrets, Mae will join her mother in an institution or her father in the grave.

Corona by David Arrowsmith, publication date 29th June
In a fallen London, how far will one man go to save his family – and himself…
...or is it already too late?
Trapped in his top floor mansion block apartment in Denmark Hill, South East London, can The Man escape and pick his way through the crumbling ruins of the city, avoiding the violent gangs that now vie for supremacy, and find his heavily pregnant ex-wife?
Can a belated act of heroism wash him clean of his sins, or is he too far gone?
In a world where civilization has fallen, what hope is there for the future?
Corona is the deliciously dark and dystopian Sci-Fi, perhaps even Cli-Fi, debut novel from David Arrowsmith, author of Nevada Noir: A Trilogy of Short Stories.
Corona is a story about the dark – and the light – inside all of us. It’s about man’s inhumanity, and humanity. It’s a story in which the threat, the danger, comes from within us – not from the undead or vampires or even a virus, but from our neighbours, our friends, even ourselves. Corona combines elements of dystopian fiction with the literary survival horror of works like J.G. Ballard’s High Rise and Concrete Island. It’s the perfect read for fans of The Road, I Am Legend, The Last Of Us, The Walking Dead, Mad Max or even Shaun of the Dead.

Book Review
Life, Death, and All Things Between by Michael Bergman, reviewed by N S Ford
A beautifully-written collection of poems about the journey of life. The collection is divided into four ‘moments’ – ‘The Stir of Souls’, ‘Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow’, ‘Melancholy Shadows’ and ‘The Burning of Dawn’. Although the poems are short, they are impactful and thought-provoking, spanning all of human emotion. Quite often they use powerfully effective imagery of rivers, seas and mountains. There is definitely a spiritual tone to this collection in the sense that life must have a purpose and that the essence of what we are goes to a higher existence, however it is not advocating a particular belief system. A recommended poetry book which shows a lot of talent.
