A Spellbook for the Once Cursed by Rebecca Crunden
The curse is broken and Aris is once again human, but settling into a normal routine proves difficult. Especially when Enlil rescues a stray crow who won’t stop watching him.
The sequel to The Man and the Crow.
Sea of Souls by N C Scrimgeour
Dark be the water, and darker still the creatures that lurk within…
Free-spirited Isla Blackwood has never accepted the shackles of her family’s nobility. Instead, she sails the open waters, searching for belonging on the waves.
But when tragedy calls Isla home, she realises she can no longer escape the duty she’s been running from. Selkie raiders have been terrorising the island’s coasts, and when they strike at Blackwood Estate, Isla is forced to flee with her hot-headed brother and brooding swordmaster.
To avenge her family and reclaim her home, Isla will have to set aside old grudges and join forces with an exiled selkie searching for a lost pelt. The heirloom might be the key to stopping the bloody conflict—but only if they can steal it from the island’s most notorious selkie hunter, the Grand Admiral himself.
Caught between a promise to the brother she once left behind and an unlikely friendship with the selkie who should have been her enemy, Isla soon realises the open seas aren’t the only treacherous waters she’ll need to navigate.
As enemies close in on all sides, she must decide once and for all where her loyalties lie if she wants to save what’s left of her family—and find the belonging she’s been searching for.
Midnight Son: A Prophecies of Ragnarok Story by Marie Sinadjan
Prince. Warrior. Son. Brother.
Baldr has always been destined for greatness. As Odin’s heir and firstborn legitimate son, he’s been raised to succeed Odin as king of Asgard and ruler of the Nine Realms, and to lead the worlds into an era of peace and prosperity.
But the brightest of lights casts the darkest of shadows, and in Baldr’s wake looms his younger twin brother, Hodr, who has already betrayed Asgard once before.
This is a prequel short story to THE PROPHECIES OF RAGNAROK trilogy by Meri Benson and Marie Sinadjan, beginning years before and leading up to the events of Hotel Fen, and a retelling of the myths involving Baldr, a Norse god whose death is said to herald the coming of Ragnarok, the prophesied end of the worlds.
A Midlife Woman by T B Markinson

Just as long as no one acknowledges that on July fourteenth she’s turning forty. She can’t kick the thought that getting older is a failure on her part. And it’s dangerous, too. She tweaks her neck simply trying to make toast.
The problem is, Sarah seems determined to throw a surprise birthday bash despite being warned not to.
Will Lizzie survive turning 40?
A Midlife Woman is the hilarious and heartfelt eleventh installment of A Woman Lost, a series of contemporary sapphic romances. If you like quirky characters, complicated family dynamics, and well-crafted prose, then you’ll love following Lizzie’s continuing saga.

Book Review
Inheriting Her Ghosts by S H Cooper, reviewed by Kerry at Herding Cats
Inheriting Her Ghosts is a short read but it’s so intense it feels like a much bigger novel.
S H Cooper does an amazing job at taking the reader back to the Victorian era (I think – I am not sure it’s disclosed specifically) and recreating that world. The gothic vibe is superbly crafted from the house (High Hearth), the outside world and attitudes of the people. As Eudora explores the house and its surrounding land, the reader experiences every single thing with her through detail and vivid description. I participated in this book as Eudora – I saw, heard and felt everything she did. The descriptions create such a mysterious, intense mood and I was constantly waiting for something to happen.
Eudora is a fascinating character. A woman way ahead of her time in attitude and action, she prefers a solitary life doesn’t entertain nonsense and is very independent. She certainly isn’t the most endearing or sweet character but there’s an air of honesty and kindness about her that I loved.
For a lot of this novella, the chills don’t come form action. They come from a sense of malevolence, foreshadowing and sense of something is there but cannot be seen. When things do happen – it’s chilling and terrifying and it gave me goosebumps.
Inheriting Her Ghosts is an edge of your seat, gothic paranormal horror which just sucks you into the pages from the very start. I cannot recommend it enough if you love a spooky read.
